Dry Carbon, Wet Carbon and Forged Carbon Options

Different Yamaha carbon fiber parts require different production methods depending on budget, appearance, strength and fitment requirements.

Dry carbon / prepreg carbon fiber is recommended for higher-end Yamaha motorcycle parts where lightweight structure, stable thickness, cleaner edges and better dimensional control are important. Prepreg material is processed under controlled conditions and cured under heat and pressure — by autoclave curing or matched-mold compression depending on part geometry and production volume. This helps achieve a higher fiber volume fraction, lower void content and more consistent part thickness compared with basic hand layup methods. This process is suitable for premium fairings, covers, air ducts, racing parts and custom OEM/ODM projects.

Wet carbon / vacuum infusion carbon fiber is a practical option for visual carbon fiber parts and aftermarket accessories where cost control is important. It is often used for fenders, covers, trims and non-structural motorcycle accessories.

Forged carbon fiber is available for customers who want a more modern and distinctive surface appearance. It is often selected for decorative covers, panels, trims and custom motorcycle accessories.

Surface finish and weave options:

Matte clear coatLow-glare, subtle finishTrack bikes, touring
Satin clear coatBetween gloss and matteVersatile street use

For visible parts, we can also discuss weave direction, carbon pattern alignment and cosmetic surface requirements before production.

Manufacturing Process for Yamaha Carbon Fiber Parts

Each Yamaha carbon fiber project is reviewed based on part shape, mounting position, surface requirements and production volume. Mold type is selected according to the part geometry, expected order quantity and process method — options include CNC-machined aluminum tooling, steel tooling, epoxy tooling and composite tooling. For parts requiring tighter dimensional control, machined tooling is recommended.

1. Project review We check the Yamaha model, part photos, drawings, 3D files or original samples to confirm shape, mounting position and production feasibility.

2. Mold planning Mold material and structure are selected based on part shape, production method and order volume. For high-volume or tight-tolerance parts, CNC-machined tooling is used. For prototypes and lower quantities, lighter tooling options are available.

3. Carbon fiber layup The carbon fiber fabric, prepreg or forged carbon material is arranged according to the required appearance and structural specification. Prepreg cloth is laid in a temperature-controlled environment to avoid contamination and ensure consistent resin distribution.

4. Curing and forming Parts are formed by autoclave curing, vacuum infusion, compression molding or other suitable composite processes depending on the material, part type and required properties.

5. CNC trimming and hole cutting Mounting holes, edges and cutouts are trimmed according to the original sample, CAD data or confirmed reference. This is where fitment accuracy is locked in.

6. Surface finishing Parts are finished in gloss, matte or satin 2K UV-resistant clear coat, applied in a dedicated clean room. UV coating is applied to all production parts as standard.

7. Inspection and packing Parts are inspected for surface quality, fitment-related dimensions and mounting points before shipment. Inspection photos are available on request.

Why Work With a Carbon Fiber Factory for Yamaha Parts?

Most Yamaha carbon fiber accessories sold online are ready-made retail products. They may work for individual riders, but aftermarket brands, distributors and tuning companies usually need more than simple resale parts.

As a factory-direct supplier, we support:

  • Custom mold development
  • OEM/ODM production and private label supply
  • Batch production with consistent inter-batch quality
  • Material and process selection based on your requirements
  • Product development from 3D files or original samples
  • Fitment-focused manufacturing for specific Yamaha model years
  • Pre-shipment inspection photos and production communication

A note on factory-direct sourcing: For aftermarket brands and distributors, factory-direct production can reduce intermediate sourcing costs and provide more control over material, finish, packaging and batch consistency. Compared with buying ready-made retail parts, OEM/ODM production is better suited for planned product lines, private label programs and repeat orders.

Beyond Yamaha motorcycle parts, our factory also supplies carbon fiber car parts and handles custom carbon fiber projects across automotive, marine and industrial applications. Visit our homepage for a full overview of our product and service range.

Air tubes (also called air ducts or air intake tubes) are the inlet ducts that channel air from the front of the fairing into the airbox — common on sport bikes including the R1 and R6. Pick-up covers (also called magnetic trigger covers or pulse generator covers) are the small engine covers protecting the crankshaft position sensor. Both are available in carbon fiber as direct-fit replacements for the OEM plastic or aluminum parts.

Dry carbon uses prepreg carbon fiber cured under controlled heat and pressure, helping achieve a higher fiber volume fraction and more consistent wall thickness. Wet carbon or vacuum infusion is usually more cost-effective and suitable for many visual carbon fiber accessories. For most OEM/ODM projects, we recommend dry carbon for premium or structural parts and wet carbon for decorative accessories.

Yes. Forged carbon is available for Yamaha covers, panels, trims and custom motorcycle accessories where a modern chopped-carbon appearance is required.

For the most accurate fitment, original samples or 3D scan data are recommended. If the customer has CAD files, STEP/STP files can also be used for mold and part development.
