Carbon Fiber Grades and Weave Options for Triumph Parts

Selecting the right carbon fiber specification affects fitment precision, surface quality, long-term durability, heat resistance and the final visual result. Here is what each option means in practice.

Fiber Tow: 3K and 12K

3K carbon fiber — each bundle contains 3,000 individual carbon filaments, producing a tight, fine weave with the high-definition diagonal or grid pattern associated with premium motorcycle parts. 3K prepreg is used for visible bodywork: fairings, tank covers, belly pans, fenders, fly screens and seat cowls.

12K carbon fiber — 12,000 filaments per tow produces a coarser visual texture and can be used for larger or more functional components where a bolder carbon appearance is acceptable, such as chain guards, heel plates and exhaust heat shields.

Weave Patterns

Twill weave (2×2) — the classic diagonal carbon pattern, most widely associated with premium carbon fiber parts. Available in 3K and 12K.

Plain weave (1×1) — square grid pattern. A crisper, more technical appearance popular for race builds and riders who prefer a visual alternative to twill.

Forged carbon — randomly oriented short carbon fibres in an epoxy matrix. Produces an organic, irregular marble-like pattern, visually distinct from conventional weave and increasingly specified for custom and limited-edition builds.

Kevlar composite weave — carbon fiber combined with Kevlar (aramid) fibres, available in standard Kevlar (yellow), blue Kevlar and red Kevlar. Provides improved impact resistance versus pure carbon and a distinctive two-tone appearance. Commonly used for parts with higher contact risk — heel guards, fly screens, handguards and number plate brackets.

Dry Carbon / Prepreg and Autoclave Curing

Dry carbon prepreg is the preferred process for high-quality Triumph parts where consistent wall thickness, stable fitment and surface quality are important. The prepreg material — carbon fiber pre-impregnated with epoxy at a controlled resin ratio — is cured using autoclave equipment under controlled temperature and pressure conditions.

Compared with traditional hand lay-up or open-mould wet processes, prepreg autoclave processing provides better resin control, lower void content and more consistent laminate quality across production batches. This is the process we use for fairing panels, tank covers, seat cowls, front fenders, rear huggers, fly screens and heat shields.

Wet Carbon / Vacuum Infusion

Wet carbon or vacuum infusion is a cost-effective option for larger decorative parts, smaller batch production and projects where budget flexibility is a priority. It produces a genuine carbon fiber laminate with useful strength and stiffness at lower tooling and production cost than full prepreg autoclave work.

This option suits aftermarket brands that need reliable carbon fiber appearance and performance with more competitive pricing.

Surface Finish Options

UV-resistant clear coating is available for finished parts and is recommended for all exterior motorcycle applications.

For left/right symmetrical parts and large visible panels, we can discuss weave direction alignment before production. Consistent weave orientation across matched panels is a detail that matters for professional-grade bodywork kits.

Triumph Street Triple Carbon Fiber Parts

The Street Triple is one of the most active platforms in the Triumph carbon fiber aftermarket. We support both the 675 and 765 generations through existing tooling where available, or new tooling development from samples, 3D scans or CAD data.

Triumph Street Triple 675 (2007–2017)

Parts include: belly pan, front fender, rear hugger, exhaust heat shield, lower chain guard, upper chain guard, heel guards, swingarm covers, V-panels, fairing trim, number plate mount, sprocket cover, tank pad. The lower chain guard shares attachment geometry with the Daytona 675 from 2013 onward.

Triumph Street Triple 765 / R / S / RS (2017–present)

The 2022 RS updated its swingarm geometry and bodywork profile. Hugger, radiator covers and frame cover for 2022+ require model-year confirmation at time of order.

Triumph Speed Triple Carbon Fiber Parts

Triumph Speed Triple 1050 / 1050 R (2011–2020)

The heel plates are cross-compatible with Street Triple 765 R/S 2017–2019, as both models share the same footpeg assembly.

The 1200 platform has revised engine bay width, updated bodywork and suspension geometry compared to the 1050, so model-specific tooling or sample confirmation is required. Parts include: belly pan, front fender, rear hugger, side panels, tank covers, exhaust heat shield, number plate mount / tail tidy.

The 1200 RR (2022+) has a café racer cockpit fairing in addition to the naked RS bodywork. We can supply both RS naked bodywork and RR cockpit fairing components — confirm the variant when enquiring.

Triumph Daytona Carbon Fiber Parts

Triumph Daytona 675 (2006–2017)

Pre-2013 and 2013+ Daytona 675 models use different bodywork tooling. Please confirm model year when ordering.

The exhaust heat shield / silencer cover uses a high-temperature resin system — important given the 675’s 3-into-1 exhaust routing and heat loading near the rider’s leg area.

Triumph Daytona 765 Moto2

Limited production platform. Carbon fiber parts for this model are developed to enquiry with original samples or 3D data.

Triumph Daytona 660
